Your Word Has To Mean Something

It's something I've come to believe more strongly the longer I've worked with people.
If you tell someone you're going to do something, do everything you can to make it happen.
That sounds simple.
But whether you're leading a team, working with a customer, mentoring someone, or just dealing with the people in your everyday life, trust is built in those small moments.
Did you make the call you said you'd make?
Did you follow up when you said you would?
Did you show up when someone was counting on you?
And when something prevented you from delivering, did you communicate or did you disappear and hope nobody noticed?
I've certainly had times when I've overcommitted, missed something, or simply gotten it wrong.
That's part of being human.
But accountability doesn't mean never making a mistake.
It means owning it when you do.
Somewhere along the way I've realized that people don't expect perfection nearly as much as they value consistency, honesty, and follow-through.
Titles don't create trust.
Promises don't create trust.
What you consistently do after you give someone your word does.
That's what DELIVER means to me.
